BAM! - Decoy [05-03-08]
We're getting back into our drill at Initial HQ. It's been a disruptive start to the year but the Great Machinery of Initial is self righting and indestructible. A few new songs are dominating the practice sessions and the gear addiction is being fed well. It's getting more and more difficult to ignore the fearsome growth of the drum kit as metallic discs and arms sprout from the thing almost daily. Even Christopher Walken has been resurrected to invoke an ancient meme.

This update includes the information that Oskar bluescreened the day after the Little Day In (The Little Day After) and consequently got legally restricted from driving the feisty red menace.

This update addresses a gig promised and then immediately retracted by Shadow Dreams, the band we share the Rock Factory practice room with.

This update adds the added additional functionality of a BOSS BASS OVERDRIVE pedal to Decoy's arsenal, which in conjunction with the existing Beringer pedal produces arcane, unholy levels of fuzz and screaming fury to burst forth from the exquisite Ashdown amplification devices and directly into your spine, shaking it like a polaroid picture in a concrete mixer in a Richter 10 earthquake while asteroids smash the planet to pieces.

This update reveals that the Rock Factory is closing it's doors (on the practice room at least) and hence the mighty forces of Initial have to find a new home away from home.

Man it was hot. It was hot going there, hot indoors and BLISTERING on stage. We played OK. Had a great time at a well organized gig. We were on early and the crowd numbered around 250, so not bad.

Fear And Loathing On The Way To Waiheke Island - Decoy [5-12-07]
We were halfway to Stillwater, on the way to band practice, when Oskar mentioned he had some important news. I remember saying something like "you'd better not be quitting the band..." And suddently there was a terrible roar all around us and the sky was full of what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, which was going about 100 kph towards Silverdale. And a voice was screaming: "Holy Jesus, we haven't eaten our burgers yet!"

Then it was quiet again. Oskar responded that he wasn't quitting, but the news was good and had to wait until the band was assembled. This was a satisfying turn of events, up til now the last few weeks have had some signifigant annoyances, especially the theft of our beloved smoke machine and the joiny parts of the Oskar's kit.

So we arrive at practice, our bellies full of burgerfuel and our ears filled with Mike Patton, to be greeted with the sight of ten foot high edifaces of wood and pointy metal, a large deck to be shifted manfully before we could arrive at the interesting part of this whole post: That the news turned out to be our inclusion on the list of band's playing at the most excellent event of this Summer - of 2008 - of YOUR LIFE - The Little Day In. Featuring us. Initial.
